When I got my first computer in 1980 I did not realize that it’s a marriage, I thought it’s a date, a fad, a hobby and it was a toy, a 4 color terminal with VHF output to CH-3 of a TV set. Those were the days of FORTRAN, COBOL, punch cards and mainframes and my connection to Node-0 of the internet (the one and only) which was the mainframe at UCLA was a 150 baud CAT acoustic modem, realize there is no K in the 150.
Since 1980 I have been working with computers non-stop, I remember asking adults in 1970’s what is a computer and the best answer they could give me was a big calculator, to calculate what? big numbers? Sounded boring. But my VideoBrain computer was exciting, it had 4 colors and could make audio sounds, I would login to the internet and type code and the mainframe would answer back! I had a login and password and that was WOW.
It was 1996 when I designed my first website for my production company on Wilshire bl. in Westwood Village, it was a custom flash site, with an interactive GUI, people would call the company and ask if we were public, they wanted to buy stock, I had a couple of smart German interns for a year and we designed a custom made video library which would play 640x480…
